Grayson & Ethan Dolan Announce Departure From Youtube & Why I Think They're Quitting

Hello everybody welcome to my blog. I know I usually share about what music artist are doing but I wanted to switch my content a bit here and there too. Today's topic will be about the Dolan Twins.

Recently, youtube twin duo, Grayson and Ethan have announced that they are leaving youtube after nearly 7 years posting videos. The 21-year-olds said that they have a "lack of appreciation" for content as well as wanting to venture off into new things. They do have another Youtube channel for their podcast which they do post on every week but as for their main channel they have decided to end their careers with the website.

“We are not moving on from YouTube because we have a lack of appreciation for you guys. Your support over the past seven years of our lives — I can’t even explain the level of appreciation I have for you,” Grayson said.

Now they have taken a few hiatuses in past but this time really seems to be permanent. They have done other ventures though, they have directed music videos, done their own documentary as well as most recently have their own brand called Wakeheart where they come up with different candles and fragrances too so they do seem to be busy enough.

However, this doesn't surprise me that they all quitting youtube as they are like the many other youtubers that have decided to quit the site too. However, during the podcast some people have been speculating that this has been more Ethan driven than Grayson. This means that it seems like Ethan wants to quit this more than Grayson does and I will say if this is true I am not shocked by that for a particular reason.

Ethan had recently called out Youtube for making a particular video trend about someone who went missing (as a joke) and Ethan called them out for it.

He said, “Damn ok I saw something the other day that really did not sit right with me. I’ve been hesitant to speak up because I don’t like to be ‘problematic’ but at this point it could be damaging to a lot of people and trigger PTSD and trauma,” he wrote. “I do recognize people make mistakes but accountability and ownership needs to be taken. With such large platforms creators need to realize how their content can affect people. Using “going missing” with a missing poster and friends crying in a thumbnail as clickbait is disgusting.”

“Someone very close to me was kidnapped and went missing for 4 days. This title/thumbnail trending #1 was a huge slap in the face to this person. I can only imagine how damaging this would be for those who never got to see their loved ones again after they went missing.”

The video was done by Youtuber Lexi Rivera (Brent Rivera's sister) and it trended to number 1 and I will say that I 100% agree with Ethan youtube is a big company and website and it is inconsiderate of them to push a video about someone going missing as a joke when people really suffer with certain traumas and stuff and it is a shame on Lexi for thinking that this type of thing is funny cause it's not.

But anyway when the duo announced the departure I have a feeling it could have been because of this video I am sure it was other stuff too but I think the twins were just running out of material to post about. But I do see why people think that it was Ethan driven because of the comments made but the feeling could seem mutual.
